The Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) and the Ministry of Finance (MOF), Guyana engaged in knowledge and information sharing in 2020 and 2021 to support the strengthening of national capacity in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), as part of Results Based Management (RBM).

On November 30, 2020, the Vision 2030 Jamaica Secretariat, formed part of a team from the PIOJ that met with the MOF, Guyana to share information on an Online Monitoring Platform that was being developed by the PIOJ through support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The Vision 2030 Jamaica Secretariat requested follow-up engagement with the MOF, Guyana to learn from their experiences in M&E. This engagement would include the members of the PIOJ’s internal Steering Committee for the Strengthening/Development of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Framework and Plan for Vision 2030 Jamaica and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In January 2021, the MOF, Guyana shared with the PIOJ, a document titled “A Strategy and Action Plan for Institutionalizing Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) in Guyana” (2011). Subsequently, the PIOJ and the team from the MOF, led by Ms. Sonya Roopnauth, had a meeting on July 15, 2021, where Ms. Roopnauth shared information on Guyana’s process for strengthening M&E. The MOF, Guyana also facilitated a meeting between the PIOJ and Dr. Ray C. Rist, an international expert in M&E, who had been providing technical support to the MOF, Guyana, on September 2, 2021.

The PIOJ thanks the MOF, Guyana for the knowledge and information shared and its contribution to building the capacity of the Institute in strengthening the M&E System for Vision 2030 Jamaica and the SDGs.
